Helsinki, Finland – January 19, 2026 – Buddy Healthcare is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr David Selwyn as its new Chief Medical Officer, strengthening the company’s clinical leadership as it continues to scale digitally enabled perioperative and secondary care pathways across the NHS and international healthcare systems.
Dr Selwyn joins Buddy Healthcare with extensive senior clinical, executive, and national leadership experience from across the NHS, with a particular focus on the transformation of perioperative care at scale. His appointment reflects Buddy Healthcare’s ambition to support safer, more reliable, and more efficient end-to-end care pathways through enterprise-wide digitally enabled care coordination.
Most recently, Dr Selwyn served as Acting Chief Executive Officer at Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. At the same time, he was the inaugural Director of the Centre for Perioperative Care (CPOC) for six years, where he played a leading role in advancing UK perioperative care best practice and innovation. During this period, he helped establish perioperative care as a whole-pathway, multidisciplinary discipline, strengthening the link between clinical standards, operational flow, and patient outcomes.
In addition, Dr Selwyn established CPOC as a major global partner, helping to amplify the international perioperative care voice and foster collaboration around scalable, evidence-based models of care, an experience that closely aligns with Buddy Healthcare’s work supporting the adoption of standardised, digitally enabled pathways across health systems.
Earlier in his career, Dr Selwyn held a number of senior clinical and leadership roles at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust, including Deputy Medical Director, Divisional Director, and Consultant in Adult Critical Care. He subsequently held executive roles at Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, including Executive Medical Director, Chief Clinical Information Officer, and Deputy Chief Executive, combining clinical leadership with digital transformation and organisational change

Dr David Selwyn, Chief Medical Officer at Buddy Healthcare, said:
“I am delighted to be joining Buddy Healthcare at a time when digitising perioperative pathways and simplifying care coordination are increasingly important to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care. I look forward to working with clinical teams and partners to support the adoption of digitally enabled pathways that optimise the true end-to-end surgical pathway, reduce last-minute cancellations, improve patient outcomes, and support NHS services with waiting well initiatives, and to work more effectively while enhancing the overall patient and clinician experience.”
