We are delighted to announce that Gary Birks has joined Buddy Healthcare as our Vice President of Global Sales and Marketing. In this significant role, Gary will lead our worldwide sales and marketing efforts, with a specific focus on expanding our presence in the UK. Reporting directly to our CEO, Jussi Määttä, Gary will play a key role in shaping the future of our company.
With an impressive career spanning over 25 years in the healthcare industry, Gary brings a wealth of experience to our team. His professional journey includes diverse roles such as General Manager, CEO, COO, Executive Vice President, Director, and consultant. Armed with a Master of Science in Health Informatics degree, Gary possesses a deep understanding of the complexities and digitalisation opportunities of the healthcare sector.
Before stepping into his current role, Gary served as a Special Advisor to the CEO of Buddy Healthcare. During this time, he played a pivotal role in shaping our strategy, guiding market entry and growth, and enhancing operational maturity to meet market demands.

What made you choose Buddy Healthcare?
Having supported the work at Buddy Healthcare, as an Advisor to the CEO for a short period of time it was evident that the company, the product and the team are unique. As a young company, I am excited by the career opportunity to help support the business, team, and market growth. We have the right product, team, customer focus, and overall market opportunity for success.
What are you passionate about?
I love the industry of digital healthcare. We are fortunate to be in an industry that brings together two of the fastest moving industries, which have a profound impact on improving the lives of everyone. There is always something new to learn and we can never sit still as the industry evolves daily.
What are you most looking forward to in the coming year with Buddy?
I am really looking forward to success in the UK and growing the business further. We have a unique offering in the market and I am keen to see how our potential customers respond to the opportunity it can bring for them.
What do you enjoy doing in your leisure time?
I follow most sports avidly and am spending time following my twin boys development as they are playing ice hockey (Michael for the Sheffield Bears) and American football (Daniel for the Edge Hill Vikings) for their universities. I played football regularly till last year, but this year have had a knee replacement that has put paid to that career…I now keep fit by going to the gym and yoga. I love spending time with friends and family so when not keeping fit, I am working on keeping unfit!
